Nick Smith and Kate Smith

Nick Smith

Nick is a graduate of D’Youville University and Canisius College, receiving a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training respectively.  Nick maintains status as a Certified Athletic Trainer and a Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of New York.  Nick has been a practicing physical therapist since 2012 with previous employment serving the Buffalo Niagara Region in Niagara Falls, Williamsville, and Lockport prior to joining Greater Buffalo Physical Therapy in 2021.

Nick’s passion for physical therapy was discovered during the course of education in the sports medicine field as an athletic training student at Canisius College.  Nick’s initial interest in sports medicine led to an excitement in the assessment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions and a transition to the field of physical therapy, prompting attendance at D’Youville College to achieve a doctoral degree. 

Nick’s education and clinical experience have spawned an interest in pain science, functional exercise, manual therapy, and a continued love for sports medicine.

Nick has attended post-graduate education continuing to build a clinical skill set to provide clients with up to date, evidence based, care.  Nick is a Titleist Performance Institute Certified including advanced Level 2 Power Certified, Certified Level 1 Functional Movement Systems provider, Certified in the Neurostructural Taping Technique for kinesiotape, and has attended Stuart McGill’s McGill Method Level 1 and 2.  Nick has attended many other post-graduate courses to improve patient care and the treatment of orthopedic conditions. 

On a day to day basis Nick’s treatment goals surround a return to function and increased quality of life for each client on a person to person basis.  Nick is proud to offer physical therapy sessions heavy on analysis and individualization providing, with client input, a treatment plan centered on achieving recovery of normal.


Kate Smith

Katie is a graduate of D’Youville University receiving a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  Katie has been a practicing physical therapist for over a decade with experience in pediatrics, orthopedics, and physical therapy consulting.  Katie joined the Greater Buffalo Physical Therapy team in 2022.

Katie strives to help those under her care feel their best. She believes in the importance of patient education and successful patient-therapist collaboration to achieve the most favorable outcomes.  

Katie’s postgraduate work in physical therapy includes continuing education surrounding the care of pediatric patients as well as advances in orthopedic physical therapy care. 

Katie’s treatment approach combines manual therapy intervention and exercise, following an evidence-based plan of care unique to each individual patient.
